Assange Walks Out

The biggest headline surrounding Wikileaks for the past two days has been Julian Assange walking out of a CNN interview after the reporter asked several questions about political infighting and Assange’s personal life.

On one hand, Assange is clearly paranoid and his media style does nothing to help Wikileaks’ credibility.  On the other hand, he’s dead on about the all-too-typical questions asked of him in such interviews:

“I will have to walk if you are… If you are going to contaminate this extremely serious interview with questions about my personal life.”

In other words, “Drop your soap opera bullshit and start talking about the 104,000 dead civilians we uncovered.”

UPDATE: Assange made the argument again, this time to Larry King:

“We released 400,000 classified documents, the most extraordinary history of a war to have ever been released in our civilization,” Assange said. “Those documents cover 109,000 deaths. That’s a serious matter, and it’s extraordinarily disrespectful to those people to start conflating the first revelation of that material with any sort of tabloid journalism.
